Ball powder like Winchester 748 works great for loading 223 Remington cartridges.
Due to the lower flame temperature, the barrel can be used for significantly longer than with other high-velocity powders. The 222 Remington, 30-30 Winchester, 30 Winchester, and even the 485 Winchester Magnum can all be shot out of this rifle.
When loading a 223 Remington, use 748 as the powder. Having a lower flame temperature than competing speed powders, 748 increases barrel longevity. You can load it up with anything from 222 Remingtons to 30-30 Winchesters to 308 Winchesters to 485 Winchester Magnums.
There have been Winchester smokeless powders on the market since the 19th century. Any customer who has fired Winchester factory-loaded ammunition can attest to the superior quality of the propellant right from the first shot. Winchester’s line of powders brings that same level of quality to your reloading table.
Since the 748 has a relatively low flame temperature, it can be used in a variety of centerfire rifle loads, such as the 223 Remington, 30-30 Winchester, and 308 Winchester, all of which help to preserve the barrel’s longevity.
Further essential details:
Do not go above the maximum load values listed in the reloader’s manual.
Do not mix powders of different types, brands, or origins.
