N165 Powder

Vihtavuori N165 is the powder of choice when loading heavy bullets into magnum rifles. It works best with a.338 Lapua Magnum loaded with 250-grain bullets, but it’s also compatible with a wide range of other calibers, from 6.5 x 55 sniper extra-extra-fine to.416 Rigby.

N165 Powder

Individual grains of N165 powder are the same size as those of its “big brother,” N160 (1,3 mm in length and 1,0 mm in diameter), but the two types of powder have different combustion behaviors due to the surface coating.

When using heavier bullets, N165 is preferable to N160 in the same caliber cartridges due to its exceptionally low burn rate. Because of its slightly higher velocities, N165 is ideal for long-range shooting and hunting large game.
